The state of Palau puts a ban on sunscreen chemicals that have been shown to endanger coral reefs and human health. The law comes into force in 2020 and will prohibit the sale of sunscreens containing Oxybenzone and other chemicals.

Hawaii passed a bill to ban two of the most hazardous chemicals used in sunscreens, oxybenzone and octinoxate. The bill was signed on the 3rd of June 2018, effectively banning sunscreens containing these chemicals from sales in Hawaii after January 1st, 2021.
