Suntribe Ingredients Explained

"Every ingredient on this page earned its place in our formulas. Nothing hidden, nothing unnecessary." - Julia Beyer, Suntribe co-founder

At Suntribe, we believe you should know exactly what's in the products you put on your skin. That's why every single ingredient we use — down to the smallest trace compound — is listed and explained here, in plain language, alongside the science behind it. "Natural mineral sunscreen" isn't just a label for us; it's reflected in every line below.

What you won't find in Suntribe products

Just as important as what's in our formulas is what isn't. You won't find Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, or any other chemical UV filters in any Suntribe product — our sun protection always comes from Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide alone. We also don't use synthetic fragrance, silicones, PEGs, parabens, or microplastics.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zinc Oxide safe?
Yes. Zinc Oxide is one of the most extensively studied mineral UV filters, and the non-nano form we use sits on the surface of your skin rather than being absorbed into the body. It's considered reef-safe by the scientific community and suitable for sensitive skin, including on children.

What does non-nano mean?
Non-nano means the mineral particles in our Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are larger than 100 nanometers, the threshold generally used to define a nanoparticle. Because they're larger, they sit on top of your skin rather than being absorbed into it.

Why is there a white cast?
Mineral UV filters like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are naturally opaque, which is part of what makes them effective and gentle. We use ingredients like Polyhydroxystearic Acid to help disperse them more evenly and reduce the white cast, but some visibility is a natural trade-off of choosing a mineral formula over a chemical one.
